Job Description
This role is integral to the maintenance of SeaWorld’s high animal welfare standards and to the advancement of the field and science of marine animal health. This role assists and participates in the management of the animal welfare program and play an active role in research opportunities at SWAD. Assistance with managing labor and expense budgets for the Animal Care Center is also required. Responsible for developing a high performing and motivated Animal Health team

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for the maintenance and management of all aspects of collection animal health for SeaWorld Abu Dhabi including diagnosis, treatment of disease, preventative medicine programs, the animal welfare program, nutrition
2. As part of various programs, oversee medical care of rescued wildlife including but not limited to dugongs, birds, sea turtles, and cetaceans
3. Shares responsibility for the management of Animal Rescue Program with the Zoological Directors
4. Consult and educates the Zoological colleagues, leadership teams and occasionally the public in areas of health, welfare, and husbandry

Requirements:

1. Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree
2. Ability to obtain a license to practice veterinary medicine in the UAE
3. Board eligibility, Member or Diplomat status of a recognized Veterinary statutory / professional body
4. Demonstrated knowledge with professional zoo/aquarium and animal conservation communities
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
