Job Description
You as a STATCOM Project Engineer will be part of Hitachi ABB Power Grids business based in Dubai, UAE. You will be designing authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Completing assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects, cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements

Responsibilities:

1. Technical contribution: Evaluating, selecting and applying standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments. Providing technical support for testing, installing and commissioning activities. Preparing project documentation within one’s scope of deliverables
2. Planning and control: Creating work plans and cost estimates in own area of responsibility and ensuring quality deliverables on time and within targeted cost. Improving effectiveness of work plan in collaboration with other functions
3. Assisting customers on technical issues, interacts with official contacts, contractors and other staff within his/her scope of deliverables. Assisting communication pertaining to specific assignments or meetings
4. People leadership and development: Assigning tasks to and coordinates work with entry level engineers, technicians, administrative staff
5. Safety and integrity: Living core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues, and the business

Requirements:

1. A master’s degree in electrical engineering discipline, preferably in power systems, from a reputed institute
2. 3 – 4 years’ experience into power, with minimum a year experience with power electronics devices. Understanding of FACTS, STATCOM/SVCs and other reactive power compensation projects
3. Experience in any of the design aspect of FACTS, STATCOM/SVCs, studies, simulation, trainings on the reactive power compensation projects
4. Understanding in control systems, control strategies of FACTS/STATCOM/SVCs or HVDC
5. Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
